What is your Purpose/Project?

Ever feel like your a flag blowing in the wind without a flag pole? It's not a great feeling. But it happens to everyone. One way to reduce these moments, (can't promise to eliminate flag pole-less days), is to have a sense of purpose, (a why), that acts as your flag pole. With a connection to your purpose, it's a lot easier to have a sense of direction for your actions, projects, missions, etc. The "What is your Purpose/Project?" worksheet is a tool that introduces you to your true self so that you can make something great for the world.

The New Rules of The Trail

Hiking is an excellent way to exercise and fend off the feelings of cabin fever and feelings of isolation. Everybody should do it. And it seems like everyone is, at least, where I hike. Even when I go out early, there are groups of people there. It’s no mystery why. The trails are easily the best in the region. Like many others, I discovered them during the pandemic. What was likely a secret of some is now a grand central station, and most of the visitors are not following the guidelines of social distancing. Just because you are outside, and the risk is lower, it doesn’t make you entirely immune to COVID-19.

Wisdom Connects Generations

The project is called Short Stories from Lives, and it is a collection of audio, video, and text that share little moments from the lives of our elders (each three minutes or less). The site is still a work-in-progress. You will see that I used my grandparents as guinea pigs. If you would like to submit a short story, send me a note.

Life Together.

I had lunch today with John and Alyssa of KUNST. Over the years, we’ve worked on several projects together as their company has evolved. Our initial collaboration was a magazine project. The publication covered old local buildings and the people who take care of them. Nowadays, John and Alyssa are the ones taking care of the buildings, restoring them into private apartments, and co-living communities around downtown Cincinnati.

TrueScan Brand Identity Presentation

The good people at The Kleigners Group, the parent company of TrueScan, asked me to present the new TrueScan identity to their staff (after it was approved by the lead team). It was an opportunity that I could not refuse. I love talking about the brand identity process, and I'm immensely proud of the new TrueScan brand identity.

A New Website For The Littlefield

The folks at Lads Entertainment group asked Trischler Design Co. to design a new website for their flagship restaurant, The Littlefield. We first worked with Lads on the visual identities for Branch and Night Drop, their most recent restaurants. Unlike that project, The Littlefield website project did not involve an identity update. The purpose was to build a website that the staff can easily update and also to make it accessible to a wide range of guests (generation Z to silents). Their previous website was both challenging to update and confusing to navigate.

Breakthrough Cincinnati Brochure and Video

Breakthrough Cincinnati is one of my favorite local non-profits. Beyond their incredible work with teenagers, I love that they're willing to spend time upfront on discovery processes before jumping hastily into design. We began our partnership two years ago with a workshop, and each year, we try different approaches to finding inspiration for design and communications. This year, we began by interviewing donors to better understand what inspires them to invest.

Northside Depot One-Pager

Trischler Design Co. calls The Northside Depot home. While I’ll often work from my house, it’s helpful to have a separation between my house and work, by setting up at the Depot. I also get to work alongside talented creatives and thinkers who on multiple occasions, have helped me over hurdles on projects. Another perk is that the space is absolutely beautiful and much more professional for meetings and workshops than my house. All that to say, it’s a cool spot with great people, and I want more people to know about it.

TakeRoot Campaign Identity

TakeRoot is a campaign led by University Christian Church (UCC) to raise $350,000 over three years to pay off its building’s remaining mortgage. I go to church at UCC and was asked to work on the campaign’s marketing team along with my good friend, Seth Lucus (wayfinding and environmental designer at University of Cincinnati). Together, Seth and I created the visual identity including the name, wordmark, illustrations, and collateral materials. The strategy for the campaign was led by Rick Vilardo of TC Ministries.
